When you think of some of the greatest players in Manchester United history, Phil Jones is probably not anywhere close to your mind. In fact you probably will not have him on your top 50 rankings.
But back in the day, Manchester United’s legendary manager, Sir Alex Ferguson said Phil Jones had the potential become Man United’s greatest ever player.
I am old enough to remember when Sir Alex Ferguson said Phil Jones could be the greatest player in Manchester United’s history #mufc— Sam Pilger (@sampilger) December 12, 2018
“Jones, arguably the way he is looking, could be our best ever player.” Ferguson said when they signed him.
“I think Jones may be one of the best players we have ever had, not matter where we play him. At 21 years of age, he is going to be a phenomenal player. I think he can play anywhere on the pitch.
“He has such a massive influence, with his instinct and reading of the game. He has a drive about him.”
Oh dear… This is turning into a bit of a disaster for Man Utd 👀— Football on BT Sport (@btsportfootball) December 12, 2018

It’s always amazing when legendary people predict the future and get it all wrong. But it’s even more amazing when the predictor is Alex Ferguson, and the subject is Phil Jones.
