Arsenal Legend Slams Players For Bad Treatment Of Arsene Wenger

Arsenal legend, Ian Wright, has blasted the Arsenal players for the way that they’ve treated Arsene Wenger. The former striker believes that the blame for Arsenal’s disappointing performance so far this season should be directed towards the players, not the manager.

Ian Wright scored 130 goals in 220 appearances for Arsenal between 1991 and 1998.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Wright says that despite being in the job for a very long time, Wenger still has the hunger to win and that he has been working very hard to pass it on to the players, but unfortunately, the message hasn’t gone through, leading to bad performances that have resulted in unfair negative criticism towards Wenger.

“I have said it before and I’m not afraid to say it, the players have let him down on many occasions,” Wright told Sky Sports.

“I don’t think they have repaid his faith. We have seen that in certain results.

“I believe he still has that hunger but I’m not sure if he can get that message across for the players to have that hunger.”

“The players are good enough they are just not performing to the best that they can.”

“When you look at the team on paper it is a very good team but I just think they are underperforming.”
